Ceremony
The Duke Room provides the most magical back drop for any union and is licensed for civil ceremonies; with its high ceilings, striking chandeliers and dramatic pastel pinks on the walls, the scene is set.
The superbly covered chairs are lined up; the string quartet is playing a piece from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, the registrar is poised, the congregation gather, the groom and his best man wait: suddenly silence, the bride arrives. The Wedding March begins, the bride is radiant and the wedding ceremony begins. The vows are exchanged, the couple kiss, the registrar smiles and the family and friends beam. Let the celebrations commence!
Guests follow the happy couple down the stairs to the Robert Adam Room where congratulations are hailed, photos are snapped, the ushers and best man step into position, bridesmaids assist and fuss around the bride whilst the moments are captured. Memories are created by the minute, a glass of champagne to hand.
Wedding Breakfast
Starched linen is ironed onto the tables, cutlery and glass is polished to perfection, Chandos House's own china is laid, napkins are scrolled and hand tied with ribbon, bespoke decorations - name cards and menus - are placed, candelabra and tea lights lit, the lights are dimmed; the tables are set for the wedding breakfast
Guests climb the stairs, Grandma is escorted in the lift by an usher, the guests are once more assembled and ushered into their places. The master of ceremonies calls to order with three loud raps on the door, everybody is upstanding and loudly clapping the happy couple to the head table.
Wine and water is poured, bread is broken, asparagus with rocket and shaved parmesan drizzled with aged balsamic vinegar is soon consumed. Wine is taken with distant friends, staff glide swiftly between tables. The tenderest of lamb is served with the sweetest of summer vegetables; the Chilean Merlot is excellent we hear. More effortless staff activity; the ripest berry compote tumbles off a wonderful tarte au citron balanced nicely with Cornish clotted cream. Order is called, the wedding cake is cut, champagne is served, speeches are heard and this is a truly memorable occasion, it must not stop.
Downstairs we are asked to go, our followers, follow, the music begins, it is that special song, the one that matters most to us - yes US.
