With summer not far away, I am amazed at how quickly 2012 seems
to be passing us by. Perhaps this is down to the busy and exciting
start of the year we have experienced or perhaps it is because
there is so much to look forward to with the Queen's Diamond
Jubilee and the Olympics just a few months away.
Whilst time seems to have flown by, it
is fair to say we have achieved a considerable amount, including
appearing at International Confex 2012, hosting The London Wedding
Event at Chandos House and a second technology masterclass at One
Wimpole Street, investing in new audio-visual technology, planning
exciting new developments to One Wimpole Street and of course
ensuring all of our client events run smoothly and expectations are
continually exceeded.
With all of this already under our belts, we are already working
on some exciting new projects which you can find out more about
below and we look forward to seeing what the rest of this year
brings as well as welcoming back our loyal clients and engaging
with new ones too.
We hope you enjoy our April newsletter and if you have any
comments please contact me, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
Confex
Award Win
We are delighted to announce that the One Wimpole Street and
Chandos House team scooped the highly acclaimed Best Marketing
Award at International Confex 2012 by going apple crazy, giving the
crowds a unique and entertaining experience, packed with a
crunch!
Visitors to the stand were greeted by the sweet smell of apples
and inspired by a charismatic apple juggler who gave free juggling
lessons between 3-4pm every day. The team also launched a
competition to win an iPad 2 every day of the show. Visitors could
enter by simply watching a series of photos of the venue and count
the number of strategically placed apples throughout the cycle.
Apple giveaways which had the One Wimpole Street logo lasered into
the flesh, housed in their own apple protectors certainly didn't
fail to impress either!
Nigel Collett, operations director at One Wimpole Street
comments: "As home to the Royal Society of Medicine, we decided
that 'an apple a day' would make a great theme for Confex
2012. This has been our fifth and most fruitful Confex to
date, having seen a huge amount of interest in our stand and
winning the Best Marketing Award - an accolade to our exceptional
venue in the heart of London."
Easter Egg
Winner
Congratulations to Andrea Kovacs from Bio synergies who was the
lucky winner of the Hotel Chocolat Champagne Truffle Easter Egg in
our Easter competition. Andrea correctly guessed there were 10 eggs
hidden on the Chandos House website and was successfully picked
from our prize draw.
Terrace
Refurbishment
As we welcome in Spring and Summer draws closer, the
refurbishment of the idyllic terrace at Chandos House is almost
complete, offering a truly exceptional area outside which will be
ready by the end of April 2012.The terrace will benefit from newly
designed flower beds, a stylish range of outdoor furniture, an
attractive water-feature and new lighting to ensure events can
seamlessly carry on into the night. The terrace can be booked
exclusively (with a wet-weather option) making it ideal for Summer
garden parties and barbeques for up to 60 guests.

One Wimpole
Street and Chandos House visit The Clink
The teams at One Wimpole Street and Chandos House visited The
Clink on Thursday 12th April for an away day, to discuss
and plan our own strategy and events foe 2012/2013, which was
followed by a delicious three-course lunch in the first and only
commercial restaurant to be built inside a working British
prison.
One Wimpole Street and Chandos House support the charity and its
primary focus -to reduce re-offending rates of prisoners by
training and placing graduates upon their release into the
hospitality industry. The Grosvenor Suite meeting room, situated
above the restaurant is the perfect place to host a meeting as
guests are forbidden to bring mobile phones and laptops into The
Clink, therefore providing the perfect opportunity for an
uninterrupted and highly effective meeting.
Lunch was served downstairs in the main restaurant which gave
both teams a chance to really experience what the charity they
supported was about, before they were taken out into the gardens to
see the bee hive they had recently sponsored.
The day was not only very insightful but also a real success in
terms of what we discussed and what we have agreed in terms of
strategy moving forward.
