With the clocks recently moved forward, thoughts inevitably turn to how best you can take full advantage of the - what we hope will be - fantastic weather. Summer parties are a great option for those wanting to entertain clients, make big announcements, or even just get friends together.
Here at Chandos House we boast a garden terrace and adjoining Terrace Room, ideal for al fresco parties this summer. We are more than happy to assist you as you plan your next event with us. This summer we are introducing two new party menus which take the stress out of planning by providing you with a complete entertaining package, whether it is an English Garden Party or American Style Barbecue. Positioned just minutes from the bustling Oxford Street, the Garden Terrace at Chandos House offers a rare haven of relaxation. And if the weather doesn't quite meet expectations, our Terrace Room, with its floor-to-ceiling Venetian windows, brings the outside in and offers beautiful period features with impressive Victorian Waterford Crystal chandeliers.
Wondering how to transform an outside space for your next summer party? Read on for our top tips on how to get the quintessentially British look.
Lighting - If you are planning on hosting your summer party in the early evening, it is important to bear in mind how you will light the space once the sun goes down. Create a whimsical atmosphere with candle lit paper or jar lanterns, and adorn trees with them.
Decorations - Where ever you host your summer party, whether it is on a roof terrace or walled garden, simple decorations can go a long way. Create a quintessentially British look with large bunches of English wild flowers like sweet peas, dahlias, cowslips and tulips, and use gingham print table runners and napkins to evoke memories of summer fairs gone by.
Food - Keep your menu fresh and classic with firm favourites including coronation chicken, roast beef with horseradish cream and strawberries and cream.
Drinks - A summer party isn't complete without a glass of Pimm's. Do it properly by adding fresh orange, cucumber, strawberries and mint leaves.
